Angus under the bed

Here's a shot I got of Angus under the bed. He got stuck after chasing a cat and I had to help drag him out. Dragging a scared Basset Hound when he doesn't want to be dragged is no easy task. Eventually I got him un-stuck, gave him some cuddles and assured him that he is such a good boy. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go clean under the beds.

The Cats from Four Cats and a Dog

Here are the cats. The ones that are in the title. The ones that I haven't posted about yet because I don't know why. But here they are. The first one is Boo, whom I've known longer than my husband. Her original name was Booger. No one would call her that. My friend came up with Miss Boo which was shortened to Boo. She approved of the change and will answer to her name and talk back. The next one is Buddy, the big, fat, gray one. He was a stray we found in South Carolina and had belonged to a bunch of students who abandoned him when they graduated. One of those students was in my lighting design class. He felt the same way about his studies as he felt about his cat. I gave him the grade he earned, but man, did selecting the "F" grade box feel nice. Buddy was 5 pounds when we took him in. He's now 20. At one point, he dropped a couple pounds thanks to Prozac (yep, we have a cat who's been on Prozac), but we moved again and he freaked and ate his worries away. Molly and Algernon are the last two. Littermates rescued from a shelter in South Carolina. We were only going to get ONE after my Larry died. If you've ever seen an animal shelter in rural South Carolina, you'd be surprised that we didn't take more than two. Algernon (the black and white one) is a bit dumb. And extremely vain. He is so very very proud of his tail, but he is the first one to walk into a wall. Molly (the one that looks like a poorly stirred cup of coffee and cream) is our robber barroness and is completely ruled by her stomach.

Those are the cats. All four of the cats. We love our cats, even if we didn't mean to have four of them. Especially all at once.

I guess I come from a Basset friendly family

My Uncle Ron sent me a few pictures last weekend. Turns out he had a Basset named Samantha while he was growing up. Here are some pictures of Ron and Samantha, Samantha, and her puppies. The puppies were delivered in the back of Ron's car as he was trying to get Samantha to the vet.

The best shot of the day

My Mother-in-Law, Joan was surrounded by all five dogs at one point on Saturday.

More Pictures from Joplin

Here are a few more pictures from out trip to Joplin. The top picture is of Amos, Tom and Joan's Dachsund puppy. The middle shot is of Amos and Abby. Abby is Bryan's Sister, Melody's Great Dane. You can also see Angus' backside. His tail is blurry because he was busy wagging it. The bottom picture is of Amos and Sadie, Tom and Joan's Chocolate Lab. Amos follows Sadie and tries to do everything she does. On Sunday, Amos followed Sadie out about 30 feet into the creek and swam back all by himself. He's a brave little guy.

Trip to Joplin

Over the past weekend, we went to Joplin to visit Bryan's family. Angus had a blast. He played for about nine hours straight on Saturday with Tom and Joan's Chocolate Lab, Sadie, and Dachsund, Amos. Amos is still a puppy and Angus had a great time tormenting him. They played so hard that Angus slept for most of Sunday. Here are the pictures from our trip.

Accidents on Wednesday - 2 (1 was cat related)
Accidents on Thursday (as of noon) - 1 (and that one was my fault)

Another Angus Picture

Just in case you hadn't noticed how cute my puppy is...

House Pictures - some more

More Pictures of the house

The New House

All right Elizabeth, here are the pictures of the house, complete with the old owner's furnishings.

We move this Saturday! Pictures of what it looks like with our stuff will be coming soon.
This is Angus. In this picture he's around 12 weeks old and had just returned from the vet's while he started his recovery from pneumonia. I'm happy to report that he's doing much better now and is a happy little guy. I'm also thrilled to report that he's made it outside to go for the past 2 hours we've been up.

More pictures of Angus coming soon!

Our New Blog

Hi. Welcome to our new blog, "Four Cats and a Dog". Bryan and I wanted a way to share all the new things that are happening in our life. We'll post pictures of the new house and of the five four-legged creatures who will share the house with us. The cats are Boo (the oldest), Buddy (the fattest), Molly (the walking stomach), and Algernon (the cute, but sort of stupid one). The new puppy is Angus, a Basset Hound born on Febuary 12, 2006.

Thanks for reading!
